Luminaries

I approach my work with light sources as an opportunity to broaden an understanding of the power of influence and perspective in our everyday lives. Each individual possesses unique qualities and who they are can be ever-changing and growing due to what influences affect them and the perspective they have.To liken our existence to light seems appropriate since light is energy. Light has unique qualities such as lumens (light output) and color temperature that make it uniquely distinct from other forms of light. For the purposes of this project, seemingly ordinary lights you would have in your house, under certain conditions, output more than just a glow. They provide an opportunity to look beyond the object.

With so many forms of influence at work on us throughout our lives, my hope is that within the experience of viewing these images one might connect with the idea that the influences at the core of their beauty and strength as individuals can always be honored by recognizing the power of perspective and offering light to others in the form of guidance and collaboration.
